this year's journal, projects, learning, practice and generally noodling about

the beauty of an ordinary day {a mummy & me morning at home} Claire Humphries Auckland Photographer

Those last few days before your baby starts school are a rollercoaster.  Proud to be sending them off, watching their growing confidence but, at the same's a bit heartsore.  I always felt like my kid/s and I were in a kind of secret club before they started school. We could visit places which are busy in the weekends or evenings, go watch the diggers while they were busy, meet someone who was skipping work for a coffee, stay in or pj's all day and read books - quite often the same one over, and over, and over.

I was invited to spend one special, ordinary morning with these two, to quietly document one of their mornings as Mum and a kindy kid, first day of school was just around the corner!!  Mum told me it would be boring, ha!  I think her daughter had other plans!

It has taken a while, but I certainly do know it now–the most wonderful gift I had, the gift I’ve finally learned to cherish above all else, was the gift of all those perfectly ordinary days.
